Health Insurance


The DePaul University Student Health Insurance Plan has been developed especially for DePaul University students and their eligible dependents. The Plan provides coverage for illnesses and injuries that occur on or off campus and includes special cost-saving features to keep the coverage as affordable as possible. The Plan is underwritten by Aetna Life Insurance Company, administered by Chickering Claims Administrators Inc. and features a major medical design with a $100,000 lifetime aggregate maximum benefit per illness or injury. 

The Plan includes a Preferred Provider Organization through Aetna. If you obtain care from these Preferred Providers, you will reduce the cost of health care substantially. Preferred Provider listings are available to look through and copy at the Student Affairs Office located at the Loop and Lincoln Park campuses (see Student Affairs Office Locations below).

DePaul University will not assume any financial responsibilities for your medical bills, and we strongly urge you to obtain health insurance. 

All DePaul students are eligible for the Student Health Insurance Plan as long as they are taking classes in the current quarter/semester. The Student Health Insurance Plan with the Chickering Group is voluntary.

Students living in the Residence Halls should note that the Student Health Service is NOT health insurance; you may need additional coverage.
