Justice issue you're passionate about:  Housing in Chicago. There is little social class mobility in Chicago and public housing places people in fixed social classes.

Justice issue you're passionate about:  Homelessness. My whole life, I lived in the suburbs of Chicago, and never really dealt with homelessness. My first year at DePaul opened my eyes to these people around me, and through different classes and service sites I was able to connect with these people on a different level, and see how similar they are to me and how they need my help.

Justice issue you're passionate about:  A justice issue that I am passionate about is how the elderly are cast aside by society. I enjoy working with the elderly and spending time with them. I believe that they have so much knowlegde and love to pass it on. I learned so much.

Justice issue you're passionate about:  Justice issue your're passionate about (and why...but keep it brief): Poverty...Because money is the window of opportunity... the opportunity to have a stronger foundation, emotionally and mentally, not materialistically.

Personal Theme Song: The Mary Tyler Moore TV show theme song (Who can turn the world on with her smile? Who can take a nothing day and suddenly make it all seem worthwhile...).

Favorite Book: I love reading but don't really have a favorite book. One I read recently and enjoyed thoroughly is Life of Pi.

Justice issue you're passionate about:  I am passionate about HIV/AIDS because it is the pandemic of my generation and it disproportionately affects people who are already stigmatized and marginalized. I enjoy advocating for the HIV positive population because it is a disease that has the potential to affect anyone.

Favorite Book: Le Petit Prince

Justice issue you're passionate about:  I am passionate about improving our nation's education system and changing the fact that where a child grows up determines his or her opportunities in life. I believe providing equal education to all students, regardless of socioeconomic background, will lead to the solution of so many other social justice issues by enabling them with the hope, skill, and credentials to improve their lives.

Personal Theme Song: Hat the moment, "Travelin' Thru," by Dolly Parton (ha ha)

Favorite Book: "East of Eden," by John Steinbeck - hands down!

Justice issue you're passionate about:  U.S. torture and detention policies in the "war on terror," because of their complete disregard for human dignity, human rights, and international standards, treaties, and conventions. This is a justice issue that says alot about the violent aspects of U.S. culture, and also something that relates to many other issues the world is currently facing (Arab-American relations, civil liberties, terrorism, etc). It's a justice issue that in many ways is unprecedented, and also something that gets very little media attention (in part because of limited access to information)...

Personal Theme Song: "I Can Do Better Than That" by The Last 5 Years, "You're the Top" by Cole Porter.

Favorite Book: The Best of Everything, Lamb, I Am My Own Wife

Justice issue you're passionate about:  I have not found one particular issue yet that touches me profoundly. I just want to help other people.
