Advocate
The Office
of Students with Disabilities will inform and update
departments on functions and services provided as well
as educate the student with disabilities of their rights
and responsibilities by encouraging the student to get
involved in his/her college career decisions.
Academic
Policy
Since each
of the colleges within the University has its own
policies, it is the responsibility of the individual
student with a disability to find out about them and
comply with them. Any questions about academic policy
should be addressed to the college advisors. The OSD can
serve as a liaison and/or advocate.
Assistance
to other DePaul Departments
The Office
of Students with Disabilities is available to offer
assistance to other DePaul departments in the following
ways:
- In
cooperation with the University's legal affairs
department updates on laws and regulations
concerning students with disabilities at a
post-secondary level.
- Provide
resource material for faculty/staff on issues
pertaining. to people with disabilities.
- Faculty
members can notify the Office of Students with
Disabilities of students who might need assistance
in their classroom. OSD can assist faculty in
accommodations related to classroom instruction.
